 INNOVATIVE DENTAL SYMPOSIUM ON ‘INCLUSIVE INNOVATIONS’ HELD IN SWARGIYA DADASAHEB KALMEGH SMRUTI DENTAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL, NAGPUR

            The dental specialty in Nagpur witnessed a very innovative and informative symposium at Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental college on Saturday 20th December 2014. The term ‘Inclusive innovations’ implies to innovative modalities and techniques in dentistry which will be at a lower cost and should be beneficial for a vast strata of the society. Renowned international speaker from Israel Prof. Dr. Zvi Metzger enlightened the delegates with his lecture on ‘Minimally invasive dentistry’ which was then followed by a Live demonstration and Hands-on workshop. ss  

The dice was beaming with the eminent members of the management comprising Hon’ble President of the Dental college Mr. Sharad Kalmegh, Treasurer Mr. R. M. Singh, Vice- President Mr. Vakil, Secretary Mr. Hemant Kalmegh. Amongst them were present many stalwarts in the field of dentistry viz. Dr. S. C. Bhoyar (Dean faculty, MUHS), Dr. Mansing Pawar (Dean, GDC Mumbai) and Dr. Vinay Hazarey (Dean, GDC Nagpur). The program was held in the eminent presence of Dr. Sanjay Patil, Dr. Jaykumar Gade, Dr. Limje & Dr. Mrs. Kulkarni, Dr Mrs Gade, Dr Priyatama Meshram, Dr Rushikesh Meshram, Dr Ambar Raut. It was co-ordinated by PG students Dr. Deepa Thakur, Dr. Roshan Sinkar & Dr Nitin Jogad. Dr. Deepika Chandhok proposed the Vote of thanks.

The first valued speaker Dr Metzger has emphasized that India have great history of learned ones with strong base that India has long way to go.  He considered India as budding place for tourism dentistry.  So he decided to launch SAF in central India along with Dr Ajinkya Pawar. 

The second honored guest Dr Pawar said that his opinion about private college students are changed when he came to the college Swarigya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College & Hospital, he said that the private college students have a lot of potential to do research and also have artistic hand. 

The third guest Dr S. C. Bhoyar said that the in the eyes of university Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College & Hospital have maintained good level in under graduate and post graduate studies.

Next guest speaker Dr Hazarey has admired the good work done by college like testing the fluoride level in drinking water in nearby villages.

            Hon’ble President of the Dental college Mr. Sharad Kalmegh said “Each and every student has the potential to innovate. I am an engineer by profession, but when the brains of engineers and doctors get together, innovative miracles happen”.  In order to encourage dental students for research a special ‘I4C (Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation  centre)’ has been established in the college, which provides optimal opportunities as well as funding for the same purpose.

All the dignitaries urged the budding dentists to ‘think outside the box’ while dealing with different equipments, materials and modalities. The idea of this remarkable symposium was to stimulate young brains to create innovations by merging their knowledge and creative abilities with logistic thinking.
